Solar PV array installed at Noberne Doors by GMI Energy
GMI Energy complete a complex solar PV installation at Noberne Doors factory
GMI Energy recently completed a 22kWp roof mounted PV system for Noberne Doors in Leeds. The system should generate around 18,000kWh of renewable electricity, contributing a significant portion of Noberne Doors electricity requirements and boosting their total onsite generation. The system will complement a biomass system that is already operating in the factory. This makes use of the factory's waste materials to provide a source of renewable heat. With the combination of renewable technologies, Noberne Doors will vastly reduce their dependence on the grid and therefore become less susceptible to variable and unpredictable fuel prices.
The 30kWp solar PV system is also eligible to receive a deemed Export Tariff rate at 50% of the total production, no matter how much electricity is actually used on site. This will increase the overall returns of the system for Noberne Doors and reducing the payback period.
Completion of the solar PV installation required an unusual approach in terms of health and safety and all design and planning was completed by GMI Energy's in-house design team. GMI also took care of structural surveys, DNO applications and Feed in Tariff applications on behalf of the client. With the system now up and running, GMI Energy Facilities Management will be closely monitoring the production and responding to any fault alerts that may arise.
